what if the movement was mandatory? an attack modifier, like charge. if this unit kills another unit, it MUST move forward. would make a neat charger/berserker/[some term we havent already used]. maybe even allow it to move onto impassable hexes? that would be funny, but very very rarely tactically ...

I am having trouble figuring out how to beat this one. Could someone tell me how much money you arrive with? I have left the previous map with -300 and +99, both giving me 100 to start here, which is 5 recalls. The starting orcs are good cannon fodder, getting my group of 9 units all to level 3... A...

So, post some replays. If this is as prevalent as you say then it should be trivial to prove.

Doesnt the 'expected' vs 'actual' damage, taken and inflicted, track precisely this?

There are plenty of card games with CCG-like decks, but no collectable/tradable aspects to avoid most-money-wins problems. Fight City is one example. For wesnoth, I would expect to see a deck for each faction. Or maybe decks for each race, with rules or mechanics to handle mixing races.

I have actually recalled a few peasants lately. In The South Guard you get some Loyal peasants, well worth the extra 10g investment that one time.

You don't get any points for having units left at the end of a campaign. The lives of your high level units are a resource to be spent wisely in achieving your goals. Given 3 mages of light, I once sent one along with 3 other level 3 units on a purely diversionary feint. They got about a dozen kills...

launchpad is like sourceforge, a place to house "everything" related to an OSS project. bugs, patches, documentation, etc. to be honest, I don't think anyone will take this up and maintain it.

imho the difficulty of some of the later scenarios, including this one, hinges on whether or not dwarven stalwarts and their kin are available. that storyline toggle is quite balance shifting, perhaps too much so.

For a rope bridge, if someone wanted to actually draw the art for 2 3 4 5 6 etc hex spans, then they could all work just fine.

Intersections would look unrealistic. Even if we had the art, they would be magically raised into the air, at the starting height (land level) of the surrounding spans.

You draw the art, I will write the WML. Bridges are my pet project :) As a matter of fact, I might get started on the WML early... Shouldn't be too hard to make the existing bridge overlay sit (quite ugly with water ripples) on top of void or lava... One problem will be resistances. Bridge is always...

In every campaign, I would set my units to ALWAYS be quick if I could. quick+strong for melee units, quick+resilient for anyone else. The difference most people overlook is that it allows you to move your front forward 10-100% faster, depending on units and terrain, and that turns into massive gold ...

I played a console shooter once where the "map" of levels was arranged so that every time you finished a level you progressed to the right, but how well you did determined if you moved up or down. O good/win / O---O average/tie \ O bad/lose At the right edge there were 3 possible endings, ...
