Since campaigns.wesnoth.org is not very fast, why don't you compress the stuff avaible at campaigns.wesnoth.org with bzip2 instead of gzip? Both the server and the user will handle smaller files. bzip2 will require a little bit more resources when unpacking, but if the computer can run wesnoth it ca...

I don't think that a standard number of scouts would be a small improvement at all, maybe it would be useful for some maps, but creating many problems in other maps.

WML only has a command for the amount of villages, not the distance between them. its the distance that matters. it there are lots of villages, but theyre all next to each other, any unit can take them, no scout is needed. maybe there should be a command for "empty squares per village"? if its high...

i'm using wesnoth 1.1.8 on debian sid, I found a problem in the manual, maybe it's only a problem of the italian translation. Look at the screenshot i've attached.

I remember that I played a nice 6p (3vs3) little island map once, but I can't find it. It was similiar to the picture I attached.
