Don't forget that the dialogue overlaps with the big toolbar at the right of the screen.

It should not overlaps with it.

I wasn't sure if someone else had already seen that bug.

I'll do some further testing and see if I can find what triggers it.

Random crash when accessing preferences menu during campaign

While playing the first mission of the new newbie campaign, after ~10 turns I decided to change the sound since it was too loud. I clicked on "preferences" then the screen turned black and after 5 seconds it crashed.

Couldn't reproduce.

(Using windows XP, Wesnoth 1.1.1)

Most of the subtle things will have to be discovered by you. I discovered on my 4rth attempt at Siege of Elensefar that I could partially move a unit, move another unit and finally take the first unit again and move it a second time. Let's just say that it changed the way I plan my stragegies. Just ...

So this means there is room for cheating then.

to romnajin : I disagree. You should read it completely again. The engine spits random results but if you wanted to replay your turn from the saved game, you would get the same results again and again.

It wasn't taken out of context.

Look here : http://www.wesnoth.org/wiki/FAQ#There.2 ... is_game.21
Note that saving your game right before a combat, and restoring and trying again, will often generate the same result. This is expected, because the random number generator is "seeded".

Not so fast.

If it means 100 000 more people visiting the website and using the servers and talking in the forums... wouldn't that cause trouble ?

Ah yes I see your point... Well... it's not technically cheating since people who play chess by mail can modify their play until they are satisfied with the result. But anyway, it says in the documents that the "random" numbers are seeded and that we shouldn't be surprised if we get the same results...

What cheating ? you mean someone playing more turns and screwing the game ?

Perhaps the option to use a password for each player could fix it.

Yeah I'll need to convince my friends to play in order to test that... but I'm on it !

I'll tell you how it goes and if it works we could explain in the wiki that "play by mail" is somewhat supported.

Play by mail ?

I was wondering if it was possible to send the saved file of a hotseat game to your friends when it's their turn to play.

Anybody tried it ?

edit: yeah it's in ideas... sorry about that. I thought about suggesting a play by mail mode and then thought about sending the file. Sorry
