Re: Implement the Wesnoth Ladder
Because of that I'd argue that the eWes-team should not depend on any external crew for their development of a ladder, unless of course, they can strike some kind of agreement with that crew and get the stability of it's work and existence re-assured. Reimplementing ladder for purposes of this fork...

Re: Implement the Wesnoth Ladder
All that is truly needed is interface/protocol for communication with HTTP server hosting ladder - the game client might just send AJAX-like requests; the matter of linking in-game userids with ladder userids is more complicated as many players use multiple instances and server does not support mult...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth for dummies?
Soliton, we both know I was sarcastic. Since I want to show what an average RNG guy can find in forums and how explanatory it will be for him I have to paraphrase/sume up what is waiting out there for him. It is also the commentary to the 'customer management policy' at Wesnoth Co. So no showing off...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth for dummies?
@AI I understand you mean my mod and my mod's approach. It is wrong thread for discussing that. The issue was already discussed in mod's thread anyway . Short: yes, the probabilities do change. It is the cost of lower variance. The EV remains the same. The defenses work the same - or even more as ex...

Luck in Wesnoth for dummies?
I think there should be a non-arrogant, explanatory sticky thread that answers most questions regarding luck and RNG - especially those made by people who are a bit ignorant about RNG, probability and statistics. The whining about RNG is generic - so should be the answers. It is better way than 'Luc...

Re: Forking of Wesnoth...
I visit forums rarely, much to rarely to catch every thread like that. The problem people do their own mods/patches without any regard to existing solutions, the effect is terrible - instead of developing and improving something that was already thought out, instead of doing some research - new mons...

Re: Bad luck? Read this
(...)Having written a patch to change the way in which luck is handled in Wesnoth, I'm sure that you're well aware that the "problem" isn't some kind of rigging of the RNG. Thus, you are not the type of person David is discussing in this thread. I wrote my comment not because I felt perso...

I think you should take a look here: http://panzercentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45039 The goal of PG Forever project is to preserve game mechanics and characteristic look-and-feel of the classic Panzer General, and improve all the other areas of the game: compatibility with modern hardware and W...

Re: Bad luck? Read this
Well, I must admit I did not bother to read the whole thread. I have no idea what stopped me after reading just a few first posts ... So in case you do not enjoy the battle mechanics the game offers: I think that the Dunning-Kruger effect is likely hugely relevant when it comes to recognizing random...

The mod will be rewriten for 1.8, I will not maintain code for 1.6.* branch. If somebody feels like modding 1.6.5 - please post binaries and code in this thread.

Re: Hello! I wrote patch, which disable Random Number Generator
Yes, always succeed. I think now, how to avoid that correct without RNG. Simple solution, keep using the RNG for only these two weapon specials. IMO, its a fair compromise between using and not using the RNG, and doesn't require rebalancing. That is, keep doing both calculations. Calculate damage l...

Re: Abnormal hit/miss sequences
Your problem is so reoccurring and old for Wesnoth, it got some solutions. Refer to my signature to get multiplayer solution. Even if you used your fireplace as source of entropy the fight mechanics would remain prone to described situations. Could you please quote where in this thread the fight me...

Re: Abnormal hit/miss sequences
HomerJ, no RNG can change here a thing (despite in fact Wesnoth uses pretty outdated RNG, it was already discussed). Even if you used your fireplace as source of entropy the fight mechanics would remain prone to described situations.
