Re: Wesnoth for iPhone out now!
I've decided to remove the "phone home" Flurry analytics code from the next update. It wasn't particularly useful, and I don't really want people to worry about network charges... Thanks Kyle, appreciated. 1.2 is much better and playable, though I look forward to future improvements in sp...

Re: Wesnoth for iPhone out now!
Probably the most fitting compromise would be to have it send data by default (most people won't mind), but have an option to turn it off (some people do obviously mind). Or, you could have it only send the usage data if it is on a WiFi network. I prefer Aethaeryn's approach, that caters for the pr...

Re: Wesnoth for iPhone out now!
The "phone home" is for application usage statistics and crash report sending, to the flurry.com service. It is pretty common in iPhone apps, and the data size is extremely small. Of course no identifiable information is sent, not even your device ID. Just stats like how long you play, wh...

Re: Wesnoth for iPhone out now!
Hi Kyle, Good to hear work continues and an update is on the way—it should address my concerns about speed and crashes. I do have an issue with Wesnoth phoning home on startup: both from a privacy standpoint and I'm on a prepaid plan—so pay for network traffic by the byte. Wonder if future plans cou...

Re: 1.4.7 Mac Feedback
Sounds like magic Oh well, probably not worth spending more time on. Thanks for your help.Turuk wrote:Nope, when I drag and drop it on to the HD, it moves it all over and gives me a folder in applications that ends up looking like the following.

Re: 1.4.7 Mac Feedback
Of the three files you see, just the one that is on the far right. I just dragged that on to Macintosh HD and it does the rest. Not here, I just end up with exactly the same file in the root of my hard drive--same as copying any other file. I've never seen behaviour like you're describing, are you ...

Which icon are you dragging to your hard drive?Turuk wrote:I mounted the disk image and got the lovely white box with Wesnoth 1.4.7. Opening that, I saw the same three files you did, but I did not copy Wesnoth. I dragged the icon on to my hard drive, and it installs into applications.

Re: 1.4.7 Mac Feedback
Hi Turuk, not sure why we're seeing different things. 1. I trashed my old Wesnoth 1.4.6 folder. 2. I downloaded and opened the disk image Wesnoth_1.4.7.dmg 3. This only contains 3 files: License.txt, Running The Editor.txt, Wesnoth.app 4. 'Running The Editor.txt' reads 'Hold down the option key whil...

1.4.7 Mac Feedback
Hi guys, It's great to see the Mac version return to a drag-and-drop install. It's also good to see Wesnoth adopt standard Mac application behaviour by becoming a single self-contained application (not being inside a folder along with read me, help files, etc.) However I'd like to see the Map Editor...

I have had this problem trying to run certain games from user accounts (Marble Blast Gold, namely). I never could get around the problem. I wonder if you could do a wider search for this problem in the context of other games. I did do a search, but while others have the error, each fix seems to be ...

So... somewhere a file has ended up in the wrong place, or isn't where it expects it to be. Did you try reassigning his account as having admin priviledges, and try it to see if Wesnoth launched then? When you say you've moved his folder 'out of the way' did you trash it? OK, I've tried making him ...

You may already be aware of this, and it may be a complete red herring, but do you have any other problems? - I notice you have updated to 10.4.7, and there have been a LOT of problems with this security fix. I think you're right--that is a red herring  Wesnoth has been good under 10.4.7 for ...

Crashes on Launch under OS X
Hi people, I've broken my install of Wesnoth. It was running on both our machines, but broke when I copied files from one to the other. I've since reinstalled it on the affected machine from a fresh download. It runs for my admin account but not my kid's standard account. I've moved his Wesnoth fold...
