Re: Elvish Shamans vs Mages in HttT

Another important difference was how Slow operated. Instead of subtracting a strike, it halved the damage of all strikes, so it was generally a much more powerful weapon special. slows special is still working the same way (halves the damage of all strikes and doubles movement costs). Perhaps you w...

Re: Elvish Shamans vs Mages in HttT

The game is mostly balanced for multiplayer at default multiplayer settings on standard sized maps for expert level players. You rarely go above level 2 in those sorts of games, especially with a low damage unit like the shaman. The units' abilities at level one are their most important factors. Out...

Re: Funny units names

I had a human female Mage of Light named Mean in my second complete play through Heir to the Throne. I like to think her personal method of healing involved her mace and the bedside manner of a Federation starship's Chief Medical Officer.

Re: Dirty Words like "sh*t" in unit names

This isn't so much a flaw with the game's random name generator as it is with an alphabetic language, as short words are often contained within larger ones and it'd impractically limit our ability to construct a natural vocabulary if we'd had to avoid specific character combinations. It's also a rel...

Re: What does Mainline know about Vampires?

I'm afraid I can't help very much since I generally stick to default era multiplayer, where such units don't exist. I've dabbled with some add-ons so I'm aware the Vampire Lady was mainline at least at one point and currently has a different, more detailed than it used to have never gave very much i...

Re: GNU GPL music

Wesnoth music also evolved a lot over time. So in the backversions there are some old tracks like what I'll call the techno saurian beat that were made for distribution with the game but aren't ever used anymore because they don't fit the new style. It's not precisely the best way to go about making...

Re: Time Travel/Chaos Question

On the first post I asked myself "Isn't this just a rephrased version of the Schrodinger's Cat paradox, simply posed within the frame of time travel?" and this exchange all but confirms it. We need to ask if observation itself and subsequent reobservation can be an influential factor or wh...

Re: Is electricity a "human right"?

I'd like to have such an optimistic view of the world Zerovirus but I'm skeptical of the concept of ever increasing rights because it requires ever increasing improvement and ever decreasing burden. We might not be able to predict the future with utter certainty but I think that uncertainty is why ...

Re: Wesnoth screenshots!

I was hoping for a positive reaction in the sense that it's possible to discuss the statistics and some of the strategy of the game. Ah ok, I get it now... It's just not possible to talk about something like strategy on the basis of two screenshots per scenario. Also, the victory screen only makes ...

Re: Balance Ideas (Unit Changes)

High frequency occurrence an imbalance does not make. Every faction has units that're more effective against certain units than the others and the responsibility falls upon the Orcish Assassin to work against Dwarves for Northerners as it is the job of the Mage to work against Undead for Loyalists. ...

Re: Is electricity a "human right"?

You can ask everyone socialism is not a dictatorship. :annoyed: Perhaps not in small amounts but every bit of social good provided through tax is a small bit of sweat off of somebody's back going to somewhere it wasn't quite earned. Some of it must be provided for in a healthy society, for instance...

Re: some help in loyals vs loyals

For Lawful mirror matches, you should try to organize your attempts towards having the first attack during dawn or preferably the morning to kill as many of player 2's units before they have a chance to strike during their own preferred time of day. Player 2 can also try this strategy to an extent i...

Re: Can't code WML? Want someone else to make your content?

It could technically speaking but it's all empty rhetoric, unless you're using the statement to stop people from jumping to sequential conclusions. Since neither statement offers a contextual causation to dispute, it'd be my opinion that both are equally lacking and empty rhetoric. I'd suggest a bet...
