Clearly Wesnoth needs to rip off Tolkien and Warhammer less and rip off Dungeons and Dragons more. You are aware that Formiae is latin for ant, right? Just because they have the same name doesn't really make them alike aside from being ants. These Formians share even less in common with their DnD c...

Let's keep the file names nice and simple and include this kind of information into the metadata tags. They exist for just this purpose. But surely we can give some description in the file names, if only so our human brains can parse them in some fashion. They don't have to be something like "...

If Neorice demanded that his sprites be named "Sprite01-attack.png" "Sprite01-defend.png", "Sprite03-standing.png" would that happen? There is a difference between "naming" pieces, with whatever artistic perogative you want to attach to that, and naming files ...

A bit of forum necromancy here, but it would be nice if we could give them more descriptive titles than Gameplay03.ogg or whatever. Okay, fine, the original artist did not decide upon a title, but these are soundtrack music for a game - function trumps independant artistic intent. Specifically, it w...

Re: Size: It does not *need* to follow conventions...

In the scenario, cockatrices are the result of arcane experimentation, yes? Would it be possible to randomly use more than one graphic for the same unit - say, all of the ones in this thread? :D I don't know about you guys, but I'm figuring out a way to shoehorn them into my campaign and implementi...

Making single-player maps is nothing - the work-load is going to be making an elaborately branched campaign actually work . If anything, a multi-branched campaign has the potential to be even more pernicious than a linear one since it will eventually become impossible to playtest every possible bran...

Why are you stealing monsters from Dungeons and Dragons?

There's an incredibly rich mythology of giants in the form of the Jotun of Norse mythology. That's where all of this comes from anyway.

Part of the definition of a swamp is that it has substantial vegetation.

The images at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swamp are how I picture a generic swamp. If someone has another image of a swamp they should probably post it, since trees are pretty integral to swamps IMO.

The pose seems a little unnatural to me... I don't really understand what she's doing. Why is her knee bent? Why is she sort of crouching lower to the ground, and why are her legs pointing away from her facing? Why is her wrist bent? It's like she was caught mid-frame dancing or something. I don't u...

Re: side=1 no_leader=yes ==> defeat on turn 2 ???

I have missed something ? No, it's an unfortunate feature. The player loses without a canrecruit=1 unit. One very useful trick I found to avoid this is that it appears to count allied sides when looking for a leader. So, you can just stick an allied side without shared vision in an inaccessible cor...

Here's a great idea for this faction! I'm not sure if it appears in any culture's mythology, but it does appear in The Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison, one of the classics of early Twentieth Century fantasy. Manticore -- head of a man (but with two rows of sharp teeth), body of a lion, tail of a sco...

Why are you adding -1 to side_number? Side_number is not my variable, it's the global variable used by the game to track whose turn it is. I'm just stealing it for my evil purposes. I don't see why I would want to ever do anything to it. Also, what is score_var? Is $score_var behaving like a pointer...
