Re: Dark Orch - new battle piece

Thanks for the replies. Nice thoughts. I think the problem I am having in regards to sound clarity and mud is related to the sound of the string patch itself... it's typically supposed to be used as a backdrop for other instruments to shine and I am attempting to use it for soloing and it's just not...

Re: Dark Orch - new battle piece

i like it. but it doesn't really have thatg battle feel to it. i got more of an adventure feel from it. Are the ideals of adventure and battle, mutually exclusive? I kinda see where you might be coming from, but what exactly is "that" battle feel? Could you please be a bit more specific.....

Re: Something new...

I am kind of curious as to the whole process for you. For more solid examples... When I am setting up a new orchestral piece, I generally use a few constants. I end up utilizing quite a few auxillary plugins by the end of it, involving eq, compression, peak limiter and reverb, usually. This is suppl...

Re: Dark Orch - new battle piece

Alright. I've spent some time clarifying eq's and trying to automate. It works for the time being. I'm much more satisfied with this version than the version I provided last night.

Re: Dark Orch - new battle piece

Some additional comments regarding the piece: I realize there needs to be more attention paid to working with individual instruments. The expression volume lever is jammed, it would seem. lol. So the piece sounds a little static, and lifeless to my ear. What do you guys think? I also think the instr...

Dark Orch - new battle piece

New Battle piece. http://www.allacrost.org/staff/user/rain/DarkOrchFinal.ogg This is a piece I've been working on for the past few weeks. There are a lot of moods going on and the piece is thematic in accordance with themes I've already written. Kind of a dramatic fanfare! I'll mention, I've had a h...

Re: Not dead.

Is it something, american babies can't do? :lol2: Absolutely not! American babies are born with the ability to max out credit cards, eat lots of junk food... with unique traits per individual. I was born with the ability to break any and all furniture. I was a happy baby! Oh, please no. The kid has...

Re: Something new...

Ah yes, I looked it up in my essential dictionary of music. You must be talking about the end of the first section transition into the 2nd section. Thanks, I wanted to end it nicely, kind of like that part was over, now time to start something else. A minor chord would have worked as well, but I ac...

Re: Not dead.

First off let me say congrats! i hope he/she is born strong and healthy. Seconded, though anything to the contrary is unlikely. Have you seen pictures of West? Contemporary viking. I can imagine West on the battlefield, shouting war cries and laying waste to vast legions of invasive barbarians simp...

Re: Something new...

Piccardy third is a simple enough mechanic whereby the key signature of a given piece remains rooted in minor for the duration of the piece and then ends with the last chord being in major. Kind of an A HA! moment in 17th century baroque where it was predominately featured as an aesthetic in church ...

Re: Not dead.

Wow. You'd prioritize a firstborn child over Wesnoth? for SHAME!

:D

Good luck man. That's awesome

I haven't had any energy for Wesnoth either given IRL considerations... but that's okay.

Re: Something new...

This piece rocks so far. The sound quality of the recording is excellent.

A rather short piece, but it'd be perfect for a storyline sequence.

Btw, I love the piccardy third. It's beautiful

Yo dude. I really like those. I love the way the synths sound in electrode. They sound very much like sega genesis sound fonts.

Re: Non-Wesnoth works

The one near the end of the piece was the one that really got me. I love it. It's an interesting instrument choice for the piece but it works well. It's subtle and inviting. Not sure you were going for that, but it works. Also, I'd love to borrow your guitar abilities at some point. You got a nice t...
