Re: Save The Village - MP Survival Scenario
Tried this out on the server last night with a couple of random people, it worked out really well. I hope all the events are random, in two playthroughs I've had the dwarf traitor each occasion - an unpleasant surprise the first time, but something I can prepare for on subsequent attempts. I had an ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.6
Just tried a multiplayer game using ME - Holy Order. It crashed after my Inquisitor unit leveled up to level 2, it seemed to not have the relevant unit. Also I noticed that a level 2 unit from ME - Fanatics with a 60 - 1 suicide attack didn't die after using the attack.

Re: Dwarf fortress - new version released, now with z-axis!
Bump - there was a new version released recently, adding hospitals, medical dwarves and guaranteed interesting underground stuff to explore no matter where you embark. The military system was overhauled, resulting in a lot of bugs, which will hopefully be improved by the next patch.

Re: Favorite freeware game
The best flash game I have found on kongregate so far: http://www.kongregate.com/games/noanoa/elona-shooter It's a castle defence game (basically space invaders) with RPG and strategy elements. The author, noa, previously made a roguealike game called elona, worth checking out: http://elona.wikia.co...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale
I played a game last year called Urban Rivals - one of those CCG inspired strategy games. A feature of note was that, depending on which "room" you played in, you could play with or without the random element. Here is a snippet of an interesting discussion I had about it, which seems relev...

Re: PoxNora
I've been playing Poxnora for a couple of weeks, usually one game a day. It's quite fun, but I wouldn't spend any money on it. Just playing on the training rooms using the starter decks is enough for me. A major difference with wesnoth is that the random element is semi-optional. You can specify ran...

Re: My attempt at a partial-knowledge AI: Dark Chess 960
I just beat it. The AI gave me a head start of 2 knights and a queen, before letting me queen a pawn. Think it needs to focus more on freeing pawn moves rather than just dancing its knights around the board. A game replay feature would be nice as well.

Dwarf fortress - new version released, now with z-axis!
Mentioned here a few times before, in any case I think the latest version is worthy of a new thread. For the uninitiated, Dwarf fortress is an ASCII based rogue-alike/godgame. You start by generating a world, a process that can take about 20 minutes. Then you can select one of two modes, adventure, ...

Re: Can anyone consistently beat HttT scenarios on hard?
So, my question could probably be summed up as follows: are there any Wesnoth players good enough to win any HttT scenario on hard somewhat consistently (>~70% or so of attempts), or is the campaign-beating strategy of even the top players to restart the scenario until they beat it, even if it take...

Good point Imp :) Alright I'll just continue for the heck of it :: laughs :: I'll do the no-loss later (Just finished Bay of Pearls for it). The thing about no-loss is that it relies so much on not getting a bad spree of luck. You do, it's restart time lol. The thing to remember is that hard/no los...

fair enough. I'll start from scratch :) Yea... I noticed that about siege of Elensefar. These were my units going into that mission: Retinue: Outlaw (QR), Mermaid Priestess (RI), Elvish Captain (QR), Elvish Marksman (RS), 2 Elvish Riders (RD, RQ), White Mage (IR) Loyal units: White Mage, Outlaw, Gr...

ah... baruk I do the exact same thing you do. However... against units like orc warriors and crossbows, I just don't see how units like elvish fighters can survive, with low hp. Could you offer a hint? :) I might give it a shot then. For early scenarios in HttT I tend to play for survival as much a...
