Doesn't look very roman to me, even if it was militia.

I think it would be VERY cool to me since we obviously arent trying to directly copy the romans to have a Roman/Desert-ish culture. Now you have a use for the desert tile, and have an easier and IMO more original direction to go. I wouldn't put it in front of the marauders though since they are far ...

I am really in support of a Roman-esque faction or side-faction. They have alot of stuff to work with from history, and could definately make some unique units and strategy with them. I also love Roman history, so Im biased. I thought I read some where that there were going to be no big new changes ...

Nah, that doesn't work on XP. I do have a Dos emulator I've used to run Dos programs that wont work on XP, but Delta didn't work with that either.

I'll just download the game again. >.<

Using void tiles for impassable terrain would suck badly. Some form of large mountain would be best.

Why not call it. "Battle for Wesnoth."

That says 'standard' but is alot more colorful and practical.

The "vibe" is that unlike healers who use their non-combative powers directly for the healing of other units in the party, the engineer would be effecting the battlefield overall. All of the references to this unit in real life throughout this thread were about 'WARS' not small squad combat. Having ...

I already understood the concept of what to do. Im supposed to use the xdelta program to combine the patch file with the installer, but every time I open xdelta.exe it flashes in dos for half a second and closes. I just don't know how to get it working. I try dragging the patch and running it in xde...

As far as I understand, the x-delta patch applies to the downloaded 0.9.2 installer archive, not the game binary. Many of the changes in 0.9.2 were in the data files, so getting the game itself updated isn't going to help much. So how do I do that? The patch is a single file. Do I need to apply it ...

I really don't like the engineer idea. Strays too much from what the game focus's on and would be akward. What would the units weapon be? If he is an engineer it couldn't be effective enough to level up, like the healers who have ranged attacks.

As for Gryphons, maybe not something they can't fly over, but something they couldn't survive if go there. Maybe a volcano or a frozen mountain. You see, a Gryphon may survive a frozen mountain, but not the Gryphon's rider, because of the high cold, snow and wind. How about a frozen mountain that c...

Often impassable terrain is used at the borders of a map to make the map a shape other than rectangular, such as hexagonal, or some other shape. I suggest that since the intent of the scenario author isn't literally to say "this map is surrounded by cave walls", but rather "this delimits the bounda...

High mountains is the only practicle way I see. Any wall or cliff could easily be flown over. A tall mountain offers jagged tops, cold weather, and less air at higher altitudes. I don't see any ways being as big as a mountain. Its needed anyway because the current mountains are more like really big ...

Yeah.. so you'd either need another way to distinguish the units from each other, or just have one rider.

Sounds very good AND simple. All it would need would be an extra bar because the mechanics are already there. Also seems like it wouldn't become so much a nuisance. I'd like it.
