One thing I might add ... keep a diary of what you do on the project each day. I've found that when I hit the wall through a sudden drop in motivation or a seemingly insurmountable problem, reading back through the progress I've made in the past tends to put things in perspective & make me want ...

WML syntax file for ViM?

I was just wondering if anyone had written a .vim file to provide syntax highlighting, auto indenting etc when editing wml?

Call me lazy if you like

I would say windowed as well, however if you wanted you could add a dialog that pops up the first time you run it asking if you want Windowed or Full screen, then load up whichever the user selects.

Hey Grp21, I love your work - every picture you've posted is unique and is brimming with the character's personality. Perhaps that more than anything though is what's causing some of the negative feedback, as everyone has a different idea on what the persona of each unit should be. Also, the existin...

Yes, as soon as I realized I couldn't win with 100 gold I went back to Grey Woods (thankfully I'd saved a game close to the end) and chose the gold. The "borrow our troops" option - what does that do exactly? I didn't take it as I assumed it gave you access to the allied vets ... all very ...

more unit characteristics

These may or may not be possible in Wesnoth already (sorry if they are), but they're things that I think would be neat additions that'd potentially add a lot to gameplay. These are suggestions only, mentioned only in case the devs find them interesting... 1. Ability to define a unit has having a num...

If it makes you feel any better, this is the hump in the campaign. Actually scott I found the next level harder, as I'd chosen for the allied army to join me later rather than taking the gold or whatever the other choice was. Therefore I had the bare minimum of 100 gold (Grey Woods kinda empties yo...

MORE SPOILERS: I found this level hard as well, but it is by no means insurmountable even with poorly leveled units to start with (although I did have one huntsman). Driving a wedge between the green and pink liches is unlikely to work IMHO, as all you'll do is get sandwiched between them and end up...

Just finished the campaign on medium, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. More so than HttT in fact. The dialog/story is very well written, and there's a lot of imagination in some of the level designs. I liked how it wasn't level after level of (a) overcome a huge army then (b) kill leaders of s...

I just passed Test of the Clans on medium with only 100 gold. Basically I brought back 5 gryphons and sent them straight for the leader as others have suggested, while retreating the other units to the NE corner to avoid any combat. Yes, you get 2000 gold doing it this way, but it really feels like ...

Actually, the GPL isn't that great when applied to graphics and sounds. It protects the work in that a no-one can sell the graphics (they have to be provided freely). But the so-called "viral" aspect of the GPL, wherein if you include GPL'd programming in a product, the whole product has t...

AI in 0.8.5

Being a newbie I could well be wrong, but I've noticed a distinct improvement in the computer AI from 0.8.4 to 0.8.5. On Princess of Wesnoth especially, instead of scattering everywhere and giving me isolated groups to pick off, it seemed to keep its army in two strong reserve forces, probing with o...

Actually I just got it to compile with mingw. Provided all the libraries are installed it builds without a problem. One question though - the executable is some 41mb in size. It runs ok, but why would it be so huge?

edit: nm, compiling without -g does the trick.

windows VC6 build failing

It could well be my setup, but with the 0.8.5 source I get the following (sorry about the length of some of these):- g:\dev\wesnoth-0.8.5\src\multiplayer.cpp(80) : error C2040: 'i' : 'struct config *const * ' differs in levels of indirection from 'class std::_Tree<class std::basic_string<char,struct...
