Support for folders of savegames

Having played about 10 campaigns, I would find it immensely useful, if the save/load mechanism (using OS X 10.3.8 here) would support folders/directories, so I could sort savegames according to campaign. This might perhaps also help with testing/bugfinding, as it might increase the number of people ...

The one from the wiki is the best I know: see here
steadfast halves the damage the unit takes when attacked. When the unit is initiating the attack, it takes normal damage.

Huh? The White Mage already has holy. I think he means increase the damage that the holy attack currently does. Absolutely not. Apologies for the poor phrasing, I can now see it is terribly misleading. What I meant to say was: If the high xp cost of the mage is due to its powerful advancement optio...

What really balances the high exp cost is the really good unit you get afterward - whichever path you take. Am I the only one finding it a little odd, that xp to level are based on the unit you will get and not on the unit you have? Or is this simply a peculiarity of the mage, because its advanceme...

I think, in as much as there is a problem at all, it is the versatility of the mage. Often, you only want a healer, and 60 xp is a lot for a unit which hardly ever can be placed at the front line. In fact, AFAIK it's the lvl1 unit which takes longest to level. If you just want a magical ranged fight...

Someone help me here, I can't see how autosave at the beginning of the turn would help correct simple mistakes. If you misplaced a unit or want to try a slightly different approach, you are mostly likely to notice that after the AI has made its move. The earliest time you can react to that (unless l...

FWIW, I also dug up these two older threads. Dave pretty much said all the important stuff (he also said in those older threads) already, but perhaps you can gain additional insight:
cavalry vs. pikemen
cavalry charges

Re: Charge ability correctly implemented?

When I attack with my horsemen on ANY unit, when looking at the damage calculation the defender is alway getting a double bonus because of charge. I thought only the attacker should get this ability and not the defender. I'm assuming this is a problem, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for...

Sounds good to me, but then I'm not the one doing the coding work. On a related note, if someone is touching undo, they might also consider adding a "force undo" for maps with shroud/fog. Time and again I make a tiny mistake in movement and find that I can't undo them on these maps. The classics are...

- what about leadership from a level 3 unit to a level 1 unit, That's less than doubled. It's a 50% difference, sure, but 50% differences are only double damage when they decrease damage, not increase it. Also, my statement does not apply to outside abilities, only to the strengths and weaknesses o...

I got a "undefined side" error when loading a saved game, too (OS X 10.3.8 ). Checking through all cases of side in the scenario .cfg file, I could not find the error. My best guess it that is has to do with the new scenario objective stuff and that side 4 is the guilty party. It might be the AI ins...

Follow the SDL link on the initial post, then download the libraries mentioned. SDL proper can be downloaded from the downloads section (go for v1.2). Once downloaded, just install the packages. Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I got the main SDL by now and installed it successfully. It came as ...

Apologies for the necromancy, but could those in the know please elaborate on the SDL libraries one is supposed to get?
For one, I can't find SDL proper, but even without that, what exactly am I supposed to download and where should the stuff go?

I had difficulty parsing you complaint. At first I thought you were saying that steadfast also halves the damage that unit does in combat. If I understand you correctly though, your beef is with the fact that steadfast currently confers an excessive advantage on defense, with excessive loosely defin...

I don't see why people feel so compelled to do this......Wesnoth is intentionally designed so that you can't go around getting every bit of experience the way you want it. You can try to get a certain unit experience, and sometimes it will work out....and sometimes it won't. In my experience, this ...
